About the Job

We’re looking for a motivated Software Control Engineer (m/f/d) to join one of our portfolio companies to focus on developing advanced unmanned ground vehicles for governmental and civilian applications.

In your day-to-day work, you’ll design, implement, and optimise vehicle control systems, leveraging kinematic and dynamic modeling principles to ensure the precise and reliable operation of robotic platforms. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about control systems, robotics, and applying advanced engineering concepts to solve real-world challenges in a collaborative, hands-on environment.

Join our portfolio company: A German dual-use technology company that develops unmanned ground vehicles to spearhead automation in both governmental and civilian use cases.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Develop and implement control algorithms for unmanned ground vehicles, focusing on stability, precision, and performance
  • Perform kinematic and dynamic modeling of robotic systems to support control design and simulation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with sensors, actuators, and other hardware
  • Design and validate motion planning and trajectory-following strategies, ensuring safe and efficient vehicle operation
  • Analyse and optimise system performance through simulation and field testing
  • Document technical designs, processes, and findings to facilitate knowledge sharing and team collaboration

Your Profile

  • Background in control theory
  • Proficiency in C++ and experience with robotic control software, ideally using Robot Operating System (ROS)
  • Experience in kinematic and dynamic modeling of robotic or vehicle systems
  • Background in sensor and actuator programming with knowledge of electronic and computing components
  • Familiarity with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink or Gazebo for testing and validating control algorithms
  • Knowledge of sensor integration and real-time feedback loops in robotic systems
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet) and secure software practices
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within agile teams and a passion for hands-on problem-solving
  • Bachelor’s degree, Master's degree, or Ph.D. in Robotics, Control Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field
  • Fluency in English is required and German is nice to have

Please note that we are looking for support in the Munich office of our portfolio company. Eligibility to work within the EU is required as well.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • A shaping role in an emerging dual use company
  • Opportunity to work with a highly innovative, international and dynamic team
